Bestest Video (for now)

My boyfriend has a new video. It's for his song "Tonight I Wanna Cry" and it's beautiful. Just him sitting at his piano, playing and singing. I love those kind of videos. His best video is "Making Memories of Us", but this one is a close second. In MMoU it's just him and his guitar and a bed. A bed! *swoon*

I much prefer the videos where it's just him, or maybe him and his band playing and singing. Those videos where he is slobbering and smooching and hanging all over some bimbo are TERRIBLE! No one, especially me, wants to see him slobbering and smooching and hanging all over some bimbo. No.One.

Speaking of bimbos, that skinny skank Nicole better keep her hands offa him. *grin*

Kimmie Meissner!

16 year old ice skating sensation. Born, raised, and lives about 10 miles from me. Our own little Marylander in the winter Olympics! From all accounts she is a lovely teenager who is polite, nice, caring, and humble. She lost one of her best friends to cancer two years ago. She is adored by her family and adores them in return.

Bode Miller? Can kiss my ass. If I had kids I would want them to look up to the Kimmie Meissners of the world, not the Bode Millers.

Lord, I hope she skates her little heart out tonight.

Go Kimmie! You done us proud no matter who is on the medal stand tonight.

You know what I'm sick of?

I'm sick of people automatically assuming new people on OT are spammers or banned peeps trying to get one over on us, or have some dark alterior motive. Almost every time someone new posts there is a gaggle of smartasses making insinuations that this new person is someone other than what they say they are.

What ever happened to a simple "Welcome to OT"? What ever happened to "Hi, nice to meet you"? So what if this person is not what they say they are? If they are a banned person coming back that is up to Webby or Ayak to determine. If they are spammers, Webby or Ayak will take care of them. When did these smartass peeps get deputy badges and become the OT Posse? It is my understanding that the mods are the ones who determine a person's "post worthiness". Why is it anyone else's business? The guidelines say to alert the thread. Simple directions, huh? Alert the thread and let it go. Let the mods do their job.

One point made today on OT was "why do these people only have one post"? I think it's obvious. We (the collective OT "we") are so fucking rude to them that they turn away never to come back. If I had been treated that way the first time I posted on OT I wouldn't have come back either.

You know what people need to do? People need to ask themselves "what would Buggy do?" because I think Buggy is one of the kindest, smartest, nicest peeps out there. She has such compassion and wisdom. We should all try to be more Buggy-like, not only on OT or the blogs, but in life.

So the next time someone feels the need to judge or snark or make a less than nice comment, they should ask themselves "What would Buggy do?". The answer would be crystal clear.

Snack update (and other stuff)

1. Such grand plans I had for a snackfest this past weekend. I bought lime torilla chips and salsa, cream cheese wontons with plum sauce, Oreos, and a bunch of other stuff I can't remember right now. I ate none of it. I woke up Saturday with a cold and had zero appetite. We did get over 15 inches of snow, and it was quite lovely (until I had to go out and help shovel the driveway, sidewalk, and back deck), but I was not primed for a snack-a-thon. I'm not even sure I would have tasted anything if I had eaten it. The good news is the snacks are waiting for me. Prediction for this weekend: Augie 1, Snacks 0.

2. Carey has a great recipe for cheesecake. The one thing I did do this past weekend was make her cheesecake recipe on Friday night. {Rachael Ray voice} De-lish. Yum-O! {/Rachael Ray voice}. Carey needs to post it. Carey also needs to make it and send it to me. Weekly.

3. Speaking of Carey, she actually eats Beefaroni. *gag* I can't believe they still make Beefaroni. Does anyone remember the Beefaroni song? (I bet Carey does. I bet Carey sings it everytime she eats it. Carey probably has a Beefaroni dance.)

4. Nookie has been a blog hog today. Anyone else notice this?

5. I really love the Olympics theme.

6. I'm having a hard time taking anything too seriously these days, myself included. Anyone else experiencing this? Does this mean I'm shallow and silly? Eh. Who cares? Just because I don't feel like talking about high falutin' book learnin' stuff doesn't mean I don't know about high falutin' book learnin' stuff. Or have opinions about high falutin' book learnin' stuff. It just means I need a break from reality every once in a while, and if that means talking about Carey's weird obsession with Beefaroni, then that is what I'm going to talk about it.

7. Beefaroni!?!? Blech.

Snow

A foot of snow is forecast for tomorrow. Ack! This means I need to get to the grocery store today after work to do my shopping because I normally shop on Saturday and I will not be going out tomorrow no matter what.

What kind of snacks should I get? What is your favorite "we're snowed in" snacks?

I need something new. Help me people. Help me with my snack dilemma. I don't want to come home tonight with just chips and dip. I need a snack makeover.

Budget Update

I have considered all of your great suggestions and am slowly but surely getting on the budget track. This past Thursday was payday. Last week I logged onto the DFAS website (Defense Finance and Accounting Service -- for all you non-Department of Defense employee types) and allocated money to go directly into my savings. It's not a lot to begin with, but I will be upping it considerably once I get my promotion in April. Besides, out of sight, out of mind, and I won't spend it if it is not in my checkbook.

My accountant (me) has given me exactly $100 to spend as I wish, on whatever I wish, until next payday, which is in two weeks. This caused a huge argument between us, but my stupid accountant won. Lord I hate her. A lot. She's mean. And very bossy.

Everything else has been designated for specific catagories: food, utilities, cats, car maintanence, car insurance, credit card. My first goal is to pay off my Visa bill, which if I am dedicated to this budget will happen in May. Once Mr. Visa is off my back, I will put the same monthly payment into savings.

Focusing on the goal of making a huge down payment on a new car this fall is so far keeping me going. How I'll feel next weekend when I will probably be down to $3.50 of spending money that has to last one more week will be another story. Stay tuned.

*sigh*

Survivor!

I really enjoyed Survivor last night. Enjoyed how they have broken them up into 4 tribes by age and gender. Enjoyed the Exile Island premise, and how they can wait until the votes are read to use the idol. Love that! Who here thinks Young Girl did NOT find the idol last night? Me!

Favorite line: Cirie--"I'm in the Older Woman tribe. I'm not older. I'm in the wrong tribe".

Favorite Survivor so far: Cirie--she should be good for a few laughs to say the least. She's afraid of leaves?!?! Ha!

Least Favorite so far: The guy trying to quit smoking, but I'm sure that will change next week.

I think this is going to be a good one. Looks like they have shaken up how everyone has come to expect the game to be played, and for this I am happy. It had gotten to be the same old/same old and it was time to change the game.

And? Jeff is still as cute as can be. Love those dimples. *grin*
