Snow

A foot of snow is forecast for tomorrow. Ack! This means I need to get to the grocery store today after work to do my shopping because I normally shop on Saturday and I will not be going out tomorrow no matter what.

What kind of snacks should I get? What is your favorite "we're snowed in" snacks?

I need something new. Help me people. Help me with my snack dilemma. I don't want to come home tonight with just chips and dip. I need a snack makeover.

Nachos, taco dip, cheese filled pretzels, little quiches, bagel bites, potato skins, artichoke dip, rye dip with pumpernickel bread...I could go on and on. No, really. I could.

Can you tell I haven't had any of this stuff in what seems like a gazillion years. *sigh*

TKit! Great suggestions. Would you believe I actually have some artichoke dip already made? I made it last weekend, but I need those little pumpernickle bread thingsy to go with it.

I am also leaning toward taco dip and possibly soft pretzels.

Yum!

I wanted to tell you that I like NACHOS ... but some cute little puppy already beat me to it!

Anyway, I like to brown a pound of ground beef along with a taco mix. Spread the nachos out on a cookie sheet. Sprinkle the beef and whatever vegetables you want (green peppers, jalapeno peppers, olives) over the nachos. Then shred a block of cheddar (or your favorite cheese) over the whole mix. Put it in the oven until the cheese melts. Enjoy with salsa and sour cream.

Of course, there's always cheesecake!

Just re-reading my post made my stomach growl like crazy. I would dive head first into a bowl of rye dip.

Do you know what my Superbowl treat was? 2 tablespoons of fat free onion dip and baby carrots. Please, Augie, in all that is good snackiness, go bigger than that. Do it for me.

Of course there is always cheesecake, but the thing is I consider cheesecake to be one of the major food groups and not a snack food. But who here is surprised about that? *grin*

Tkit? what the hell kind of superbowl food is that? You need to splurge on occasion.

*poke* to Carey! Hrpmh!

Tkit! I will definitely make you proud this weekend. I will get a boat load of yummy snacks and there will not be one carrot stick amongst them.

I splurged last night as a matter of fact. I had two, count 'em one, two jalepeno poppers. I was in heaven.

The super bowl treat was kind-of weak but you saw The Dress. No room for error...or nachos.

Augie, cheesecake is DESSERT not to be confused with snacks.

I am definitely hitting the chip aisle, the frozen food aisle, the cookie aisle, the ethnic food aisle, and the baking aisle.

In case anyone didn't know, I was sick for two days and didn't eat the whole time (one scrambled egg yesterday at noon, and one half cup of mashed potatoes last night doesn't count as eating), so I am going to have to make up for lost time. I am ready to fill up that shopping cart!

Mmmmm. Mashed potatos...

I so envy you your eating frenzy tomorrow!

*giggle* I just pictured Augie eating her snacks with the same fervor that the cookie monster eats cookies. *giggle*

Mmmm... snow day food:

Hot chocolate, chicken soup, pot roast (ok, not really a snack), warm cookies and brownies and my favorite... chili!!! So versatile! Put it on nacho chips, in a burrito on a taco... yum!

I'll be making a huge crock pot full of it tomorrow. You want me to send you some?

We bought a giant box of JOS Louis (petroleum-based chocolate snack cakes- gross) and I am ashamed to admit that over half of the box is gone.

Of course, a foot of snow .. not exactly snowed in around here. The only time we were snowed in last winter there was a drift as tall as me in our street. Today we were playing on the piles of shoveled snow in the parking lot across the way.. we had to climb them.

*smooches augie*
