Snack update (and other stuff)

1. Such grand plans I had for a snackfest this past weekend. I bought lime torilla chips and salsa, cream cheese wontons with plum sauce, Oreos, and a bunch of other stuff I can't remember right now. I ate none of it. I woke up Saturday with a cold and had zero appetite. We did get over 15 inches of snow, and it was quite lovely (until I had to go out and help shovel the driveway, sidewalk, and back deck), but I was not primed for a snack-a-thon. I'm not even sure I would have tasted anything if I had eaten it. The good news is the snacks are waiting for me. Prediction for this weekend: Augie 1, Snacks 0.

2. Carey has a great recipe for cheesecake. The one thing I did do this past weekend was make her cheesecake recipe on Friday night. {Rachael Ray voice} De-lish. Yum-O! {/Rachael Ray voice}. Carey needs to post it. Carey also needs to make it and send it to me. Weekly.

3. Speaking of Carey, she actually eats Beefaroni. *gag* I can't believe they still make Beefaroni. Does anyone remember the Beefaroni song? (I bet Carey does. I bet Carey sings it everytime she eats it. Carey probably has a Beefaroni dance.)

4. Nookie has been a blog hog today. Anyone else notice this?

5. I really love the Olympics theme.

6. I'm having a hard time taking anything too seriously these days, myself included. Anyone else experiencing this? Does this mean I'm shallow and silly? Eh. Who cares? Just because I don't feel like talking about high falutin' book learnin' stuff doesn't mean I don't know about high falutin' book learnin' stuff. Or have opinions about high falutin' book learnin' stuff. It just means I need a break from reality every once in a while, and if that means talking about Carey's weird obsession with Beefaroni, then that is what I'm going to talk about it.

7. Beefaroni!?!? Blech.

Hey!! I do not remember there being a beefaroni song. I know the Rice A Roni song though. I have to. I live in San Francisco and it's a San Francisco treat.

Funny, I just wrote something about wanting to be silly. I'm going to drink vanilla frappuchinos tomorrow and be silly.

Happy Birthday to Daddy Augie.

I eat beefaroni while watching the Olympics! It's the best! *grin*

Of course, I wish I had some cheesecake for dessert. That would make a great Olympic snack.

Carey? Isn't the Rice-a-Roni song, like, SF's national anthem? *grin*

Color me impressed with Tkit's knowledge of the beefaroni song. *giggle*

Yes Nutz, I believe it is.

Carey, it's all for you, Love.

And I will admit, I *like* Beefaroni but never eat it due to the high sodium content.

The whole Beefaroni talk ruined my lunch yesterday. I have decided that, after one time, I can no longer even feed it to my child. He can have Spagheti-O's and Ravioli, but no Beefaroni.

And as I posted in Coco's blog yesterday, Rice-A-Roni is Paella, Boo Style.

*raises hand* I also know the Beefaroni song *waves to T-Kitty*

I will admit to liking the Chef Boyardee canned ravioli. I even like eating it uncooked.

Here's another song for you: *clears throat*

On top of spaghetti,
All covered with cheese,
I lost my poor meatball,
When somebody sneezed.

It rolled off the table,
And on to the floor,
And then my poor meatball,
Rolled out of the door.

It rolled in the garden,
And under a bush,
And then my poor meatball,
Was nothing but mush.

The mush was as tasty
As tasty could be,
And then the next summer,
It grew into a tree.

The tree was all covered,
All covered with moss,
And on it grew meatballs,
And tomato sauce.

So if you eat spaghetti,
All covered with cheese,
Hold on to your meatball,
Whenever you sneeze.

And, I do hope you get to eat your snackage this weekend. Those cream cheese wontons sound {rachel ray voice} de-lish! {/rachel ray voice}.

I also try not to take things too seriously. That's why I like to play around online. Real life is already way too serious. Let's have fun peeps!!!

Strangely, the snow induced me to have a cooking healthy and balanced meals fest. It is quite odd, but I suppose I can't complain.

I *heart* ravioli but I'm okay with beefaroni if there are no other options. :)

*smooch*

I like the "On Top of Spaghetti" song, too.

Have you seen the commercial for a car..all the cars are honking their horns to the melody of the Olympic Theme.

Ahem. I am very serious and high faultin. I would like for all of you to treat me with respect and decorum that someone of my high falooting stature demands.

This beef a roni you speak of? Makes me throw up a little.

I hate giving the kids any "Chef" Boy R Dee prodcuts but for some reasont they just love it.

You will never ever catch me being silly and juvenile.

Speaking of Chef Boyardee....there was a special on the History Channel or the Discover Channel the other night on Chef Boiardee, who was an honest to goodness Italian immigrant waaaay back in the early 1900s. He originally began packaging his ingredients in bags for his customers to make his dishes at home. Then he progressed to go meals from his restaraunt in New York for his customers. Then a larger food company (I forget who) began packaging his meals precooked in metal cans, which was difficult because of the War. So they began putting them in tin cans. After about 5 years, Chef Boiardee sold out his shares of the company and Chef Boyardee foods has been going strong ever since.

Some one is being high falootin' again? I gave that up because it was making me ill.

Momma I caught that special on the Chef also. It was interesting in that they said that them majority of Americans hadn't ever eaten Italian before then. I chuckled because I surely don't think Chef Boyardee is actually Italian. I can't stomach any of it, but my boys do (oh, except the pizza mix - I like that).

Augie - sorry about your illness this weekend. I could feel a sore throat coming on buy I was able to will it away!

MMMmmmm, snacks this weekend!

Augie, you should post pics of your snacks for Tkit.

Is beef-a-roni some kind of hamburger helper thing? I know all about rice-a-roni because I used to think it was paella-like gourmet stuff (waves to Boo). Does it come in a box or a can?

And lol at Spaghetti Mtn, Nookie! I remember singing that in summer camp, usually right before or after the camp mess served up some gross spag for us. I thought there was a verse where somebody was killed by a falling meatball too.

I love Rice A Roni. Sadly, Dave doesn't share my passion. He does, however, love Beef A Roni.

If you're looking to share your snacks, I'd be happy to take some off your hands for Sunday while I watch the Daytona 500.
