R.I.P. AugieCar

*wipes tear from eye*

It's official. AugieCar is done. The clutch is shot and needs to be replaced. There is no way I can justify putting over $1,000 into repairing a 1996 vehicle with 101,000 miles on it.

Say what you want about American made cars, this one was well worth every penny I paid for it and it performed above and beyond. The only major money I put into it was in the last year and that was to replace worn out parts--brakes and the water pump. I had no problems or issues with it, and it took me safely from Tampa to Maryland several times, with many smaller trips inbetween. It never broke down on me, never gave me any scares, and it got me where I needed to be during the hottest summers and coldest winters.

Thank you, little blue Chevy Cavalier.

And now the search for the newest AugieCar. *sigh* I hate car payments.

Buy a Hummer. Those are bad ass.

If I bought a Hummer I'd have to take out a second loan to pay for the gas.

*shudder*

But think about how cool it would be to bump people off the road when they were in your way.

I have always felt sad when I had to part with a faithful car. So sad. But then 2.3 seconds after I get the new one I never think of the old one again! Long live the new car!

I am with Swami on this one. You will LOVE your shiny new baby!

So what are we getting?

Monsty <---- calls "defense times infinity" and automatically gets shot gun over everyone forever.

Uh oh. Did my Explorer talk to your Cavalier? My transmission crapped on my truck the other day. So I went in search of the new MommaMobile. Ended up getting an 06 Nissan Sentra. You can check out pics on my blog. I'm going for foreign cars this time around - I just don't like the domestic cars these days. :(

Good luck on your search!

Hummers are junk. Mr. Nutz knows. He worked at a Hummer place for awhile.

*says a few nice words for the Augiecar*

Get a Jeep! Those are good cars.

My daughter's little 94 Cavalier has over 120,000 miles on it. But the odometer reads over 180,000 cause it registers in kilometers.

They really are a sturdy little car, aren't they?

Awwwwwww poor Augiecar. I feel honored that I had the chance to ride in it. And, I got to sit in the front seat *proud grin*.

I still have my 92 Nissan Stanza. She has over 200,000 kilometres but she's still running (barely LOL).

When we bought another car a few years ago, we almost went with a new Nissan but then tried out the Honda Accord. I love it.

Our next car will definitely be a hybrid.

Good luck car shopping Augie.

Awww, so sad to see a Cavalier pass on.

We are considering a E85 conversion kit for the Neon. Our warranty is almost up. It wouldn't take long to make up the cost.

I think Augie should get a scooter. Vespas are pretty hot right now.

Would someone please remind Carey that lesbians aren't supposed to like hummers?

I think it all depends on who's humming.

*observes moment of silence*

I almost bought a Cavalier in high school. But I got suckered into a Sentra. I have a '96 Bonneville now with about 186k miles on it. But it has a sunroof. That is important.

Somehow I doubt I will never own a new car. I'll just keep on upgrading to another good deal. Such is the life of a mechanic's wife.

And no Carey, I did not put all those miles on it. It's lived through many years of golfing trips.

I would say hummers and gas = bad combo, but this is Augie's blog.

We sold my 1984 Mazda GLC to the junk place last week. It was sad.

So, what did you buy?

DH had me looking at Toyota Tacoma dual cab trucks last Saturday. Now I want a new car, but we can't afford one, so I'm waiting for the 1995 Voyager to die.
