Mother's Day

This rhododendron always blooms around Mother's Day. I got this one for my mom years ago. It was probably in a 5 gallon planter, and it's now almost 8 feet tall. We placed it so it can be seen from the dining room.

It just started blooming last weekend, and should be in full bloom by next weekend. The picture is a little dark, but the weather is not cooperating. It's cloudy and rainy, however we need the rain so I'm not going to complain (if you click on the picture it will enlarge it a bit so you can see the details a little better).

Happy Mother's day to all.

I'm so gellus of your pretty yard and deck. Please trade with me. But keep your rain. We have had enough of it this year.

I love rhododendron and azalea! Ypur bush looks lush & lovely, Augie.

My PJM's are done blooming and the azalea cascade is about to start!

For the past 2 years, my PJM rhododendron have bloomed way before Mother's Day. I blame global warming.

Only one azalea got (partially) nailed by deer this year, so I got lucky

I hate my rhododendron. It's too close to the house and way to big to be there, but I don't have the heart to take it out. It was there when we moved in and at least we've been able to trim it up a bit, but it grows like weeds!

How beautiful. I love the deck railings, too - they look like sunbursts.

We have a rhododendron that doesn't look as good as it should. Do you do anything special to yours to keep it blooming and green? Ours is looking a little brown. It didn't bloom at all the first year we were here in this house, even though it had buds.

"Your bush looks lush & lovely, Augie." This is a direct quote from Swami. *giggle*

I'm also gellus of the beauty and serenity that surrounds your home.

Hi Augie! Hope you are feeling better.

Again, another gorgeous plant picture. I bought some things this weekend to start filling in between the perennials. This fall we need to buy bushes (I can't bring myself to pay full price when they are so cheap later on).

Rhodedendron doesn't do very well here. We are on the border of 5 & 6. They do much better from Zone 6 up. I finally got an azalea to take after 6 attempts.

It's purdy!

Your deck is awsome also!

Oooooooooooh what a lovely deck. You've done an amazing job with your landscaping. So pretty!

Nookie <---- thinks the picture would be even more pretty if augie were sitting on the deck

*smooches* to everyone!

Silvergirl -- I don't do anything special to the rhododendron, but I really should. I know that they are like azaleas and like acidic soil, so I should throw my coffee grounds at them. But I don't. But I should.

I love this time of year. So much promise (before I forget to water something and do it in).
